WNBA Fans Angered by Referee's Decision After Former MVP Takes Swing at Aliyah Boston originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
In a matchup against one of the best young bigs in the league, Charles and Boston had a bit of a heated moment as they battled in the post. Boston tried to jockey for positioning to receive an entry pass from star guard Caitlin Clark, but she ended up on the ground after a shove from Charles.
Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston was honored with her very own day: Aliyah Boston Day, on July 14 in Massachusetts.
Other than the uncalled elbow on Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, the majority of the game was smooth. Indiana captured an 85-77 win over Connecticut, thanks to the performance from Kelsey Mitchell. The star guard had 20 points, two rebounds and three assists on 61.5% shooting from the field.
When Caitlin Clark joined the WNBA last year, the Indiana Fever not only returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 but also quickly became one of the most-followed teams in the league.
