A major earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3 initially triggered a tsunami warning for the southern Alaska Peninsula. It was later downgraded to an advisory.
A powerful 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck southern Spain early this morning, shaking buildings across more than 50 towns. The quake, which hit just after 7am, was centred near the fishing village of San José in Almería at a depth of 10km.
