The Belgian Fire, a 5-acre wildland fire which claimed two structures and saw many evacuate their homes, has been extinguished and 100 percent contained.

Originating Tuesday afternoon on Belgian Drive, the fire quickly spread to another nearby structure and trees, prompting an emergency evacuation.

A fire burning in Brinnon, Jefferson County, has been reduced from a Level 3 “go now” evacuation order to a Level 1 “be ready” evacuation order.

BRINNON — The Belgian Fire, a 5-acre wildland fire that claimed two structures and saw many evacuate near Brinnon, is now under control. Firefighters who were still on the scene Wednesday were focusing on cooling hot spots and monitoring the area, Brinnon Fire Chief Tim Manly said.
