The U.S. Department of Justice submitted a sentencing memorandum on July 16 requesting a one-day imprisonment for Brett Hankison.

The U.S. Justice Department has asked a federal judge to sentence a former Louisville police officer who was convicted last year of violating Breonna Taylor's civil rights to serve just one day in prison,

The administration asked the judge in the case to sentence the former officer to essentially the brief time he had served when he was first charged, and three years of supervised release.
