The Trump administration on Monday asked a federal appeals court to pause a sweeping order from a California judge that required officials to stop making immigration arrests without probable cause in the southern part of the state.

A White House spokesperson told CBS News Los Angeles that the order was a "gross overstep of judicial authority."

The lawsuit accused the DHS of operating a program of “abducting and disappearing” community members using unlawful arrest tactics.
