Trayon White Sr., a former D.C. Council member who was expelled in February, is projected to reclaim his Ward 8 seat in a special election, the Associated Press projected, despite concerns over his pending federal bribery case and the risk he could be disqualified from office if convicted.

The reelection of Trayon White to represent Ward 8 on the D.C. Council brought about mixed reactions on the streets of Anacostia on Wednesday.

Voters in Ward 8 are heading to the polls Tuesday to choose their next representative on the D.C. Council, following the expulsion of Trayon White.
