At least 20 people were killed in a crowd crush at an aid distribution site run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), the controversial Israeli- and US-backed organization said Wednesday, the first time it has acknowledged deaths at one of its sites.
Meanwhile, Israeli strikes killed 22 people in Gaza City, including 11 children and three women, and 19 others in Khan Younis. The Israeli military said it has struck more than 120 targets in the past 24 hours across the Gaza Strip, including Hamas military infrastructure of tunnels and weapons storage facilities.
Two people have been killed in an Israeli strike on Gaza’s only Catholic church, according to church officials. Several other people, including the parish priest, were injured.
The Israeli military said it intended to hit an Islamic Jihad militant in the area, but that a malfunction had caused the missile to fall "dozens of metres from the target."
