After Nussmeier leaves, LSU’s future at quarterback will become uncertain again. His replacement might be on the roster with Mississippi State sophomore transfer Michael Van Buren and redshirt freshman Colin Hurley. But it might not, in which case LSU would have to pursue one of the top players in the transfer portal.

Nussmeier is an excellent processor who diagnoses coverages well pre-snap and can adjust on the fly if his first or second option is taken away. It’s difficult for college QBs to find the backside routes as plays develop, but Nussmeier does it easily.
