The Los Angeles Lakers will play their Las Vegas Summer League finale on Friday against the Denver Nuggets at 7 p.m. PT
Los Angeles Lakers second-year guard Bronny James delivered his best showing at the NBA Las Vegas Summer League Monday during a 67-58 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. The son of NBA superstar LeBron James finished with 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists while shooting an efficient 6-for-10 from the floor.
He usually would only get in during garbage time, which is all that is expected out of a rookie second-round pick. This year, James is determined to win a spot in the rotation and show the rest of the NBA that he can play at this level.
The Lakers and the rest of the NBA are monitoring what's going on with Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo
What does this have to do with Bronny James? Well, James is theoretically in the same class of summer leaguer as Bazley. While the top picks like Cooper Flagg are there to showcase future stardom, the stakes are relatively low for them in Vegas.
Bronny James played 20 minutes and scored 17 points while adding five assists and five rebounds. Dalton Knecht had a less solid day with eight points, seven rebounds and two assists. He shot 3-of-14 overall and was 1-of-7 from three-point range.
James sat near L.A. assistant Greg St. Jean for most of the third quarter and spoke with other members of the coaching staff in attendance.
Lindsey Harding is entering her eighth season as an NBA coach. She's leading the Lakers as the second woman to be a summer league head coach.
