This part I’m making for the Grandfather clock consists of a non standard sized thread, not by todays unified standards anyways. What this presented was another good opportunity to share the technique of cutting a metric thread pitch with an imperial lead screw lathe and disengage the half nuts. This is a very simple and convenient way to single point metric threads up to a shoulder, feature or chuck in which you cannot let the machine idle down to a stop.
