The S-IC (or first) stage of the Saturn V rocket was powered by five F-1 engines, producing 7.5 million pounds of combined thrust. Twelve S-IC flight stages were tested on the B-2 side of the dual-position Thad Cochran (B-1/B-2) Test Stand at NASA’s Stennis Space Center from May 1967 to October 1970, including those carrying astronauts to the Moon during the Apollo Program.
