Vacuuming up old sandy mortar bits after chipping old lime mortar off a stone foundation is less dusty than brushing the wall off. And sometimes the vacuum wand can reach places a brush can’t. We still sweep the floor or ground underneath the wall, so we can’t avoid the dust cloud entirely, but we try to minimize it. I know, I know. 😅 You can mortar, with lime mortar, small chunks of wood into the wall. It’s a lot easier to screw into wood to hang something than to screw into your stone wall. It’s not likely you’ll be able to place one dead center on your wall, but if you’re not super picky, it can help. I just call it quirky, as old homes and buildings often are. 😀 F
